DISCLAIMER: Mulder, Scully, and the rest of "The
X-Files" belong to Chris Carter, 1013, and FOX. Think of
this as a friendly loan. <g>
SUMMARY: Sometimes Mulder can be very persuasive. This is not one
of those times.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: My first attempt at dialogue-only. Inspired by the
stories of Susan Frankovich, especially the wonderful 'The Quiet
Time' for which this bears a slight, albeit unintentional,
similarity.

"Mulder, I can't believe you would even suggest that. In fact, it truly boggles my mind that you would even think to say it."
"Scully, I'm not just thinking of myself here. I thought this out and I really think it's the best possible choice."
"For you maybe."
"Listen, Scully, you're the Doctor here, I might do something that could cause a permanent injury"
"Mulder, there is absolutely no way you could injure yourself, or anyone else for that matter, by doing this."
"I know, but..."
"Are you trying to start an argument here. I've done it, my mother's done it, even Skinner's done it. We've all lived to tell the tale. Now I've let you slide on this for long enough. It's your turn."
"Skinner?"
"Yes. He was quite good at it too."
"Well, isn't that good to know. Still..."
"Honestly, I can't believe you're refusing to do this!"
"I never said that I wouldn't, I just think it might be better if someone with more expertise handled it."
"That's the most pathetic excuse I've ever heard. It was Skinner's first time and he did wonderfully."
"I'm sure he did. I'm surprised you didn't ask Frohike."
"Maybe later I will Mulder but it's your turn now. Frankly, I don't see what your problem is. It's a completely natural thing and I'll be with you the whole time to talk you through it."
"Well thank you for making me feel like a child."
"You're welcome. So?"
"Even Skinner huh?"
"Even Skinner."
"Alright..."
"Good. The diapers are in the bottom drawer. Right next to his pajamas. I'll just go get William ready. Make sure you don't forget the powder."
"Yes Mom."
